Massachusetts State Lottery Winner: Final $5 Million Grand Prize Claimed in Game

A woman from Massachusetts has won a $5 million lottery prize and plans to buy a car from a special dealership.

Kathy Burgess, who lives in Lanesborough, won $5 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$5,000,000 100X Cashword" scratch ticket game. Each ticket for this game costs $20, and her prize was the last grand prize available in the game.

Burgess decided to take her prize as a one-time payment of $3.25 million before taxes. She said she wants to use her winnings to buy a new car from the dealership where she works and to help her children.

She bought the winning ticket at a grocery store in Pittsfield, located at 555 Hubbard Ave. The store will get a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
